using digital templates

by kate teague

Right now, templates are hot in digital scrapbooking. You will find them at almost all of the major sites. Ever wondered what they are and what to do with them?

Templates usually come in two forms; layered files and flat files (usually .png files). The layered files are completely customizable. You choose what papers to use where and what elements you want. They’re designed to work primarily with Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Once you download layered templates and open them, you add your chosen papers over the layer you want to replace and “clip” it to that layer. Don’t worry if this sounds confusing. Most templates come with a complete set of user instructions that guide you step-by-step.
